The Medicare Shell Game

Folks,

If you watched any of the Sunday morning shows you noted that the key topic of conversation this week (8/19/12) was Medicare. The administration sent out its surrogates with the prime purpose of attacking Paul Ryan, while simultaneously re-writing recent history. Robert Gibbs (Obama Senior Campaign Advisor) was on Fox news Sunday and Evan Bayh and EJ Dionne were on Meet The Press. Each of them had the same Democrat playbook.

These bozos believe that America is NOT paying attention and therefore they can take liberties with the facts. Actually, they believe that we are so uninformed that they can LIE!

The main LIE this Sunday was to counter Romney/Ryan’s claim that Obama raided Medicare in 2009 by taking $716 billion out of Medicare to pay for Obamacare. That means, in plain English, that Obama needed to get the CBO (Congressional Budget Office) to declare that Obamacare was financially viable so he took money from Medicare and used it to fund Obamacare.

The Obama surrogates each swore that the $716 billion that was taken from Medicare was actually the result of “efficiencies” that the Democrats uncovered in Medicare which were taken from the (big, bad) Insurance Companies and the (lying, cheating) doctors and that this transfer of funds out of Medicare would have absolutely zero impact on the Medicare services or the treatment for seniors.

So, these jokers want us to believe that they can reduce Medicare funding by $715 billion and that will have no impact on the service, quality of care, coverage, or anything. It’s the proverbial “Free Lunch”! They also want us to believe that the Democrats are so efficient that they found waste in Medicare. These are the same politicians who support a bankrupt Social Security System, a bankrupt Medicaid System, a bankrupt Postal Service, a bankrupt Amtrak, and an almost bankrupt country, with $15 trillion debt, an annual $1.7 trillion deficit spending.

The most egregious aspect of this bold faced LIE is that there are tapes and interviews from 2009 that unequivocally show that Obama confirmed that he was taking money from Medicare and in no case did he or anyone else suggest that it was discovered from efficiencies.

This distortion and distraction and outright lying should be an affront and an insult to any intelligent voter.

Hi Carlo: The big news this weekend is about Medicare. The GOP claims that $716 billion was stolen from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. The Dems claim that they "found" $716 billion in savings and efficiencies to help pay for Obamacare.

As I remember it, the number was then $500 billion (now $716 billion) was being taken out of Medicare to fund Obamacare...the Dems were going to take that money out of the providers pockets...translation...the government was going to reduce the subsidy to the Advantage Plans and docs...which of course would mean reduced benefits or higher premiums to the retiree or both. In the case if the docs, some would stop accepting Medicare. Surely there must be some documentation around to prove the GOP position.

How this works...Uncle Sam pays the insurance companies $850 per month for every person enrolled in an Advantage Plan. Advantage Plans are run by the insurance carriers...unlike Medigap or Supplement policies. So, if Uncle Sam reduces the payment to let’s say $700 per month...what happens...the insurance company gets less income... and reduces the benefit or raises the premium...the insurance carrier isn't going to reduce their margin.   The Dems didn't find any efficiencies...they merely cut the subsidy...which will have negative repercussions/effects on the retirees. All these things have some complications/technicalities to them...which most people don't understand ...even some educated ones...we need simple ways to prove the GOP position.

And lastly, the GOP should be yelling from the treetops...that Obamacare was approved by a Democratic Congress with BRIBES to several Democratic Representatives and Senators.

So, ladies and gentlemen, keep your eye on the ball and don’t let these political hacks misinform you and deceive you. Obama and the Democrats have thrown seniors under the bus to fund Obamacare. This transfer of $715 billion will reduce care and coverage and treatment. It will also reduce doctors.

Additionally, Obama and the Democrats refused to even address Medicare during this pre-election season. They considered it to be the 3^rd rail of politics and were willing to let it ride, knowing that it will be bankrupt in 12 years. The selection of Paul Ryan was a bold move by Mitt Romney because it forced the Medicare argument to the immediate discussion and it ferreted the Democrats out of their holes. Now, all the Dems have to work with is LIES and deception because they have no solutions. They are playing a Shell Game game with America’s voters. They keep trying to rapidly move the pea with quick slight of hand.

By the way……think about the Democrats’ awareness that Medicare will be bankrupt in 12 years. What are they thinking? How can they not address this problem? Well, consider this. If Obama were to be re-elected (and I hope to God that doesn’t happen because we are toast if it does) then there’s a good chance that a Republican would win the presidency in 2016 because Obama’s policies will do nothing but continue to bankrupt and destroy America. (How do I know this? Just judge his record!) So, the House of cards will come tumbling down during a Republican’s term. Great politics, no? What about the seniors? What about our country?

Folks, keep your eyes and ears open. The Democrat Party was taken hostage by the Progressive Left some years ago and Obama was the perfect representative for this anti-Capitalist, anti-American movement. Obama’s pledge to “…fundamentally transform America” has become more of a threat than a promise, as we continue to see what he really meant.

Stay alert! Stay informed! Look for the facts! Do your own research!

Then………..you know what’s coming…….
